GIVING IS WORSHIP…
Matthew describes this scene in Chapter 2:11, “On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.” The magi could not worship Jesus without also opening their treasures and presenting their gifts to Him. The offering is an act of worship, an instance in which we are invited to give up something that we value—our money—as a sacrifice to God. In many ways, it is the highest point of the liturgy... For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:21
Tithing is really about training our heart to trust God at His Word. The Bible says we can take the promises of God to the bank. When we bring our first and best back to God, He promises to pour out so must blessing we won’t have room to receive! “As God has given to you generously, you are to give cheerfully, not by necessity or grudgingly. For God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Cor. 9:7).
